The International Aloe Science Council
The International Aloe Science Council (IASC) is a not-for-profit trade organization for the aloe vera industry. Aloe growers, processors, finished goods manufacturers, marketing companies, insurance companies, testing laboratories, consultants, physicians, scientists and researchers are all eligible for membership in IASC. Member companies are based in the Americas, the European Union, Asia, and the South Pacific. The common bond between this diverse group of entities is the shared interest in researching the science of the aloe vera plant and promoting its use in dietary supplements, skin care products, beverages, and a wide variety of other products. The IASC provides the forum for establishing and sharing best practices in the aloe business community, as well as creating common standards for the aloe vera marketplace.
History
The IASC was originally founded as the National Aloe Science Council in 1980 by leading members of the Aloe vera industry with a shared interest in establishing quality standards for aloe vera raw materials and finished products. The standards provide a mechanism for industry self-regulation and voluntary demonstration of a commitment to using authentic, high quality aloe vera in a wide variety of consumer products.
The International Aloe Science Council is a non-profit trade organization for the Aloe Vera industry world-wide, founded in the early 1980’s in order to regulate and supervise the quality and quantity of Aloe Vera in products. Aloe Vera growers, processors, finished goods manufacturers, marketing companies, insurance companies, equipment suppliers, printers, sales organizations, physicians, scientists and researchers are all eligible for and comprise the membership.
The common bond between this diverse group of individuals and companies is an interest in promoting Aloe Vera and its use in skin care products, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and a wide variety of other products.
IASC has developed a high quality certification process of Aloe Vera products and serves as a liaison and source of information for research, development and promotion of Aloe Vera and associated products. Members have access to a wide variety of information, support, advice and certification programs. Here is a sampling of:
IASC reviews federal and trade publications and report to members periodically on all Aloe industry news affecting Aloe business.
IASC studies and analyzes Federal, State and Local regulations and proposed regulations for possible impact on Aloe Vera manufacturers and distributors. IASC staff interacts with and provides comments to regulatory bodies such as the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to protect and promote the industry.
IASC’s Certification program for raw materials and finished goods assures people that companies granted the seal of approvement are using the purest, most beneficial Aloe Vera possible. This program protects customers and the industry from companies using adulterated Aloe Vera and from making false product claims.
IASC provides members with references, pamphlets and manuals on regulations, technical advice, insurance inspections recalls, good manufacturing practices, international regulations, environmental impact and other significant areas.
IASC offers packaging counsel and formulation advice from experts both within and outside the membership.
Companies who use the IASC Seal of Certification on their products and in their literature are assuring their customers that they represent:
Truth in labeling.

Halal Certification is the process of having a qualified independent third party supervise the production of consumables, attesting that they were produced in conformity with the preparation and ingredient standards of the halal lifestyle. After successful adoption and performance of halal productivity procedures, the supervisory third party then issues Halal Certification to the producer attesting to halal conformity on a per product basis. While halal requires foods to be wholesome and pure, Halal Certification has left the issue of food safety to the government regulatory bodies.
Paraben Declaration
Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in cosmetics and personal care products such as soap, moisturizers, shaving cream and underarm deodorant, according to the Food and Drug Administration. To get a bit science-y, parabens are esters (a compound formed from acid and alcohol) of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The FDA says the most common are methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben.
Forever Living Products declares that its products included in Paraben Free Products Declaration & Product List and the ingredients used to manufacture them are free of parabens.
